Even though these we not taken on Tuesday I felt they were worthy of posting today! It has been around 3 years since I have seen my old roommate Jenn and about 6 months since I had seen my old friend Tiff. They both graduated from CSU and played Softball here while attending. I got a chance during their reunion to catch up and have lunch with them. So thankful to call them friends and know them from so long ago!

Summer is gone…

So the last month of Summer flew by and held many things I was not expecting. Many of the unexpected things that came my way were not warmly received by me so it made those days seem to disappear knowing that there was much to be done before the kick-off of a new year at CSU. The process that took place just hit at a bad time for me, but I believe in God’s timing it was perfect because He was trying to teach me something. I have not learned the whole thing yet, but I am waiting to see what all He was trying to teach me! I believe that Satan used the lack of communication among me and my superiors to break down my trust and value, and the Lord used people’s humility to build me back up.

Going in to the Freshman Move-in day I was not sure we were ready for that day to be there, but there was no turning back. At this point Clark was in the Dean of Student position and the Campus Minister was yet to be announced. There were moments when it didn’t seem to matter that there wasn’t anyone in that position and then at other times I was frustrated to be carrying the weight on my shoulders. As of last Thursday, it was officially announced that Jon is the new Campus Minister.

Here is the best part of this… DESPITE US…yes, DESPITE us…God showed up and showed out! We had three nights of Grace Awakening. During that time we had 4 salvations, 20+ rededication’s, and 40+ cards from people. We had the opportunity to baptize over 45 people in the CSU Pool. The first week at Elevate we had about 300 people and they were all pumped about worshiping Jesus and Serving in the name of Jesus Christ. Jon shared a message about how we are the Body of Christ must leave each other and serve each other right at our dinner table before we can go outside to the non-believers. The important part is that we MUST get outside of our walls.

Summer is gone and the Fall semester is here…

Thankful Tuesday

Thankful Tuesday! This morning I took some time to go over to the Fieldhouse while the Volleyball team was doing some warm-up drills and watch. I just kind of stood to the side and watched them and as I was there I decided that it might be a good time to just pray over them. Pre-season, so I have learned, is a tough and trying time for the athletes AND the coaches. The Athletes are being pushed hard to prepare for the season and to see how far they will push themselves to be the best they can be. For the coaches they have to work hard to communicate effectively and push the athletes to their maximum potential. They also have to stand and see if the athletes did the summer workouts which are very evident within the first few days of pre-season. I just have a very special and unique bond with the Volleyball Coach and the players too. I hope to spend some time with each of my teams just praying over them for their personal walk with the Lord, their relationships around them, their sportsmanship, leadership and skill on the court, and their academics. Some might find this hands-off and not rewarding, but I have seen the Lord work incredibly through prayers over the last few years. So today I just share a small piece of my Tuesday and my heart! I would ask that anyone who reads this to join me in praying for the CSU Volleyball team this year!

Speak to me Saturday

Over the last couple of months I’ve been wrestling with the Lord over finding a peace about leaving CSU (or staying). I went through a time when I was asking for the answer, but I really didn’t want to slow down and stop what I was doing to actually hear the answer. The Lord began to speak LOUDER and slowed me down to hear it CLEARER. He was speaking to me through praise and worship songs like Forever Reign when it says, “you are peace, you are peace, when my fear is crippling.” Then I would get to a point when I was discouraged because I did not feel like my relationships were worthwhile and then all of a sudden I would have a conversation with someone that I was investing in and they would say something to me about how much I’ve influenced their lives and encouraged them. And the thing that finally put icing on the cake was when I was at church and Jon was preaching. He was teaching out of o Ephesians 2 and he said “peace overrides logic.” I jotted it down in my Bible and then leaned over to Drea and said, “this right here is why I am staying at CSU next year!”

The story does not stop there. Then I was asked to meet with a church about a job which they offered me a position. I did not tell many people but I did seek wise counsel and even in that the Lord stripped me of having them to run to for THE answer. Instead, I had no one around me and I knew I had to make a decision so I had no one but the Lord to depend on for the answer and the PEACE that surpasses all understanding. All of the points of the job offered to me was RIGHT UP MY ALLEY… but I could not seem to get a peace. I could not pinpoint why but I think the timing of it was the only explanation I could come up with. I didn’t feel like the Lord was done with what I could do at CSU next year.

I’ve often wondered what it really mean to have a peace from the Lord felt like, sounded like, looked like. And I have had people ask me how I knew I had a peace about staying. I think in the pit of your gut you will know what is the right thing. Being a logical reasoner and relying on that so often was tough when Jon said that peace overrides logic. So I had to almost “retrain” my heart and mind to know what to look for and what the voice of God sounds like. As you saw above His voice sounded like a praise song, His voice sounded like a conversation with a friend, His voice sounded like the truth straight from His truth in the scriptures.

I am thankful to have finally been obedient to slow down long enough to hear what the Lord was speaking to me through so many ways. How do you hear the voice of God? Do you have big decisions coming your way and you’re looking for a peace about it? Don’t overlook the answer…God will use people, things, circumstance, His word and other ways!

Top Ten Thursday

So today Beth and I took a detour on the way back to our offices after Bible Study and this is where the inspiration for this top ten list came from…

Top Ten Things To Do on a Nice Afternoon @ CSU…

10. Play Disc Golf @ Buccaneer Bay

9. Sit by the reflection pond and well…reflect!

8. Play volleyball in Buc Park

7. Grab you some java in Java City and indulge at the sidewalk tables with friends…talk about people who have impacted your time at CSU over the last couple of days or months.

6. Take a nature walk on the Cross Country trail around campus with a friend and talk about what the Lord has been teaching you about how He created you and the heavens and the Earth.

5. Take a picnic to the Football Stadium stands and while there make a list of your favorite memories at CSU Athletics.

4. Have some fun on the swings in Buc Park.

3. Attend a softball or soccer game. (or tennis or baseball or football) -(GO LADY BUCS!!!)

2. Go to Sonic Happy hour and grab a drink or two…take it to a buddy’s office and check in with them on how things are going.

1. Go lay on the Soccer Field with a friend and talk about LIFE!
